Will Springs to Success!

Our whole Heaton team are so proud of the fantastic efforts of our Trampoline star Will (Room 19). All of your personal dedication and hard work, and the efforts of your coaches and family has been rewarded. You have done us all proud in bringing home the silver medal, a stunning result with only 0.6 points separating you from the 2017 champion.
The sportsmanship and amazing attitude that you displayed throughout the competition was certainly noticed by your other competitors. Well done Will!

Medal moments as our Heaton team make waves in Tauranga!



Our three swimming sensations (Jenny, Niki and Sienna) smashed personal best times, as they swam their way to success in this years games. A special congratulations must go to Jenny (Room 6), who competed in six finals, winning four medals.

  • 100m IM – Bronze Medal
  • 100m Butterfly – Gold Medal
  • 50m Butterfly – Gold Medal
  • 100m Freestyle – Bronze Medal

Heaton squashes opponents to bring home team cup


There was plenty of talent on display at this years championships, with the boys and girls draws both consisting of 64 athletes, many of which represent NZ and compete Internationally.

A huge congratulations to Ryan (Room 4), who finished in 5th place overall in the boys competition. A list of his match results can be found below, which included a stunning five set comback against the number 12 seed.

  • Ryan defeated Kyro Stevens (11-3, 11-2, 11-1)
  • Ryan defeated Depp Bolingford (11-13, 7-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4)
  • Freddy Jameson defeated Ryan (11-9, 11-8, 11-6)
  • Ryan defeated Flynn Venmore (5-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-6)
  • Ryan defeated Maze Sanders (11-2, 11-5, 11-7)

Our two Heaton girls (Petra and Caitlin) played a brilliant tournament throughout, and the number 3 and 4 seeds were destined to reach the bronze medal match. In a thrilling back and forth 5 setter, Petra emerged victorious, claiming the bronze medal from her friend and training partner Caitlin (11-6, 11-8, 10-12, 7-11, 11-5). The girls wonderful tournament performances, moved them into top place on the team rankings, and they will be returning to Christchurch sharing a gold medal and team cup honours. What absolute stars!

Isaac takes on the toughest Aims challenge to complete Multisport course in style


Issac H (Room 14) took to the gruelling Multisport course like a duck to water in this years championships. Faced with an incredibly tough challenge of completing the 2.4Km Run / 3.8Km Mountain Bike / 1.0Km Kayak, in demanding conditions, Issac came through the course in a fantastic time of 40 minutes, 54 seconds. Well done Isaac, you did us all proud!

Nat & Grace slice their way to success


With 48 entries in this years girls tennis championships, Nat and Grace took on some of the best that NZ had to offer. It was fantastic to see the confidence and shot making of both girls develop as the tournament progressed. Nat finished with two great wins (6-3 6-3 v. Alexandra C) and (6-2 5-7 1-0 v. Alex M), and Grace with an awesome 6-2 6-4 victory against Georgia F. Well done ladies!

Elle-Roze rises up to claim gold!


A huge congratulations to Elle-Roze (Room 18) for her brilliant performances to claim our first ever gold in Gymnastics. Competing in the Open Junior Rhythmic class, Elle-Roze led from the first apparatus and never looking back, finishing 5.15 points ahead of her nearest competitor. Well done Elle-Roze!
