Meeting Time: Students are required to meet Mr Evers in the hall promptly at 8:20am for the roll. Students can arrive to school in their PE uniform so they are ready for the tournament, and will not require their full school uniform to change into after the tournament has concluded
Transport: Students will be transported to/from the venue in our two Heaton vans. We are however requiring one parent/caregiver helper who can assist in dropping 3-4 student to the venue and bringing them back to school at the conclusion of the tournament. Tournament Time: The tournament will run from 9:30am to approx. 2:30pm.
Venue: Cowles Stadium (210 Pages Road)
Cost:Participation in this tournament will incur a cost that will be added to your school account. This cost covers tournament entry fees.
Equipment Requirements: Students are to ensure they are wearing their Heaton PE uniform when they arrive to school and have all of the following equipment:
- All relevant medication e.g. ventolin
- Water bottle
- Packed lunch with plenty of healthy snacks
- Warm jacket and/or tracksuit pants as it will be cold in the stadium when you are not playing
Tournament Organisation (Draw, Rules etc):
On Monday the 1st of April our year 8 Korfball players and some year 7 boys, went down to Elmwood Park to play in a Korfball tournament. We played against other schools from around Christchurch like St Martins, Avonhead Primary and many others. We entered two teams and had lots of fun getting to know each other. We had great games and a great attitude. Thank you so much to Miss Nattrass and Mrs Earl who organised this and for getting us ready to play.

Meeting Time: Students are required to attend school at their normal time and report for registration in their class at 8:40am as usual. After students are registered, please make your way to the canteen foyer and quietly wait for your coaches to arrive
Tournament Time: The tournament will run from 9:45am to approx. 2:30pm.
Location: Elmwood Park (In the event of rain, there may be a venue change to Cowles Stadium/Celebration Centre). Any changes will be communicated to students and parents as soon as possible.

Participating Students: Heaton Korfball Teams T3 Tournament
Meeting Time: Students are required to meet Miss Nattrass and Mrs Earl in the Heaton hall promptly at 8:30am
Tournament Time: The tournament will run from 9:30am – 2:30pm. All specific game information will be passed on to your coaches once received by Korfball Canterbury.
Transportation Assistance: Students will be transported using the Heaton van and the personal vehicles of Miss Nattrass and Mrs Earl. We do however still require two adult helpers to assist with transportation. If you can provide transport assistance either to and/or from the venue, please contact Mrs Nattrass (email@example.com) before Friday 7th. Transport helpers will not be required to stay and supervise during the day.

In the last week of Term 2, the Heaton Korfball team took part in the Korfball Canterbury Tournament at Celebration Stadium. Our Heaton team competed against a number of Christchurch schools in the Intermediate age tournament. The level of competition was high and the students played a total of 5 exciting, fast-paced games.
The team did a superb job of representing our school, displaying great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
We made our way down to Elmwood park, filled with exhilaration and energy despite knowing that some of the teams had many Canterbury players.
While we were playing one of our many games or doing duty, we were in direct sunlight and it was scorching hot. It was a tough competition, and the competing teams exceeded our expectations. The opposing team members were towering over us and they moved with incredible agility.
Our two teams showed Heaton values while we played and displayed great sportsmanship. Unfortunately, we didn’t do as well as we’d hoped we would, but we know we all tried our best, and we can learn from the experience. We competed against 14 teams in total, and Team 1 came 9th while Team 2 came 14th.
A big thanks to Canterbury Korfball who ran the event, and Mr Williams for giving up his time every Wednesday morning to coach us. We would also like to thank Mrs Buckenham Baines, Ms Newfield, Juliet, Youri and Rob as they have made this tournament possible.
